Truck spill covers road in nacho cheese, shuts down highway

Jul 07, 2023Jul 07, 2023

A portion of an Arkansas highway was temporarily closed Tuesday after a truck spilled hundreds of cans of nacho cheese, covering the roadway with the gooey substance.

The delicious disruption occurred in southwestern Arkansas on I-30 West near Prescott, when the truck was involved in a collision with another vehicle, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said on social media.

“Taco Tuesday, anyone?” the department joked.

Photos of the aftermath showed the red and yellow cans and a swath of yellow cheese splattered on the blacktop with a semi-truck tipped over on its side and another truck pulled over to the shoulder.

The mess was cleaned up several hours later and all lanes were reopened later Tuesday evening.

No injuries were reported and no other information about the crash was released.

The brand of the cheese was Ricos Gourmet Nacho Cheese Sauce, according to MySanAntonio.com.

A number of other trucks carrying food and beverage products have crashed through the years, leading to road closures while messes are cleaned up, including Greek yogurt, vodka, lasagna, bacon, tomatoes, beer and “hot dog filler,” among other items.
